Frequently Asked Questions

The GLAC registration fee ranges from $155.40 to $176.40 per athlete depending on with which Club you register. The registration fee incorporates LAVIC registration, GLAC registration and a Club fee; and includes a registration transaction fee (charged by IMG).
Athletes are able to compete as a ‘Tryout’ before paying the registration fee. Athletes wishing to compete as a tryout will still need to register online and will be classed as a non-paid member until the registration fee is paid. Non-paid members can register at any time prior to competing (even the day of competition), and the Club will then confirm registration before manually issuing a registration bib.

Athletes who have been previously registered with GLAC are entitled to only ONE tryout and athletes that have never been registered with GLAC before are entitled to TWO Tryouts before having to pay the registration fee.

Appropriate footwear must be worn in all events, by all competing members. The Association does not specify types of shoes for Centre competition, however, there are specific spike requirements for State Championships.

Yes, all registered athletes must wear an approved Centre/Club uniform. During weekly competitions a registration (age group) patch must also be worn. Only members who have provided payment (& proof of birth where necessary) will be provided with a registration patch. This patch must not be washed and has a cost replacement if misplaced.

Sponsor patches are also required to be affixed to Centre/Club uniforms. These will be provided by your Centre once you are a financial member.

A Club representative will be able to tell you how much their uniforms cost.

The approved Centre uniform must also be worn when competing against other Centres (Open Days) and at all Little Athletics Region / State competitions.

Children between the ages of five (5) and fifteen (15) years can register. Parents, grandparents and friends can also be involved by helping with the various events. Please note a child must have turned 5 before they can register.
Most members tend to choose a Club based on location. However, there is no specified requirement to do so. Any child is able to individually select a Club that they are happy with. This decision may be based on existing friendships, the school that you attend, or even the uniform that you like! By attending the annual Geelong Little Athletics Registration day you are given the opportunity to speak with the various representatives from each of the nine Clubs at Geelong Little Athletics to help make your decision. The annual Registration Day is usually held one day in the September prior to the season starting.
Geelong Little Athletics offers a Track and Field Program in the summer months, running from October through to mid/late March, and then it also conducts a Cross-Country Program during the winter months.

Our emphasis is on Family, Fun & Fitness. Children can join with any level of skill or fitness. Children are given plenty of encouragement to achieve personal bests (PB’s).

Because Little Athletics is a totally voluntary organisation, Geelong Little Athletics cannot operate without the assistance of parents each week in fulfilling the many and varied duties required. These include officiating at an event; managing an age group; recording results; helping with ‘On-Trackers’; to name just a few. Most Clubs have parent duty rosters. Additional assistance is always required on the various Club and Centre Committees and all parents are encouraged to become involved. Little Athletics is one of the few sports where parents can become fully involved in their child’s sporting interests.

Little Athletics Victoria conducts coaching clinics and courses at various venues and times throughout the season. Geelong Little Athletics also has qualified coaches or parents who offer training session/s during the week. Please refer to our Development and Coaching information.
